RACGP 40 points, QI & CPD Category 1 (application in progress)

GPs play an important role in assessing and managing patients, including those who then need to be referred to a hospital. This workshop aims to update GPs who refer to RPH on the latest assessment and management of a range of common conditions and new pathways for referral, using evidence based case studies and practical workshops.

TOPICS COVERED

  • GP management of common or complex ENT conditions

  • ENT Workshops: sinus flushing; ear wax removal; useful manoevres for BPPV

  • Optimising management of Diabetes – new therapies and case studies

  • Update in Diabetic Eye Disease Management

  • Acute medical conditions: current management for heart failure - reduced ejection fraction vs preserved ejection fraction; new approaches in stroke/TIA management

  • Chest Pain and the rapid access chest pain clinic

  • Acute medical workshops: ECG/Arrhythmia; new inhalers for COPD; acute kidney injury

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this GP education event participants should be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of HealthPathways assessing and managing and referring patients

  • Feel more confident treating ENT conditions in general practice

  • Undertake common ENT procedures

  • Understand new management options for diabetes and when to use them

  • Understand new therapies for acute medical conditions
