Description

This session will aim to update and support GPs on the diagnosis and management of movement disorders and best evidence care.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise common features of Parkinson's Disease, including improved understanding of motor and non-motor manifestations.
  • Differentiate, recognise and diagnose Movement Disorders, including Parkinson's, Motor Neurone, Huntington's and Progressive Supranuclear palsy.
  • Identify appropriate primary treatment options available in the GP setting, including both initiation of therapy and development of a long term management plan
  • Interpret complex presentations (eg co morbidities and contraindicated medical options) to better determine appropriate management.
  • Acquire information about advanced medication therapy options available to patients and opportunities to refer for specialist nursing and allied health input.
