Event description

Description

GovHack is an annual open data competition (previously known as ‘Unleashed’ in South Australia) that draws together people from government, industry, academia and the general public, to reuse and remix SA Government open data in new and innovative ways to benefit our community and stimulate innovation.

During GovHack, at over 40 locations across Australia and New Zealand, teams tell a story of how they have reimagined open data via a proof of concept and a video.

Winning ideas created during GovHack include apps, websites, visual displays, electronic gadgets and pieces of art. Even board games and marketing campaigns have done well in the competition.

For government, GovHack provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate innovative ideas that can come from using open data available on data.sa.gov.au.

At this session you’ll hear from:

• Karin Geraghty, Chief ICT and Digital Strategist, talking about opportunities for agencies to identify and release open data

• Hasan Tanvir, State Director of GovHack, sharing his thoughts on how local entrepreneurs can be empowered to compete this year and collaborate with agencies on the strategic challenges they are trying to solve

• previous South Australian GovHack teams showcasing a diverse range of winning ideas.

Join us to gain a better understanding of open data and learn how your organisation can take part in GovHack 2017.
