Event description

Description

As a part of the 2019 Googong Dam and Foreshore community engagement program, Icon Water is giving Googong Township, ACT and Queanbeyan-Palerang residents a rare opportunity to tour the Googong Water Treatment Plant.

On Sunday 13 October 2019, two free tours will run for 45 minutes at 11.15am and at 1.15pm. Pre-registration is essential.

The Googong WTP was built in 1979 to treat water from the Googong Dam. This tour will cover the techniques used to supply and treat water for the Nation’s Capital and Queanbeyan from 1979 to today.

Visitors will learn about the ACT and Queanbeyan urban water cycle, Googong and Cotter catchments, the dams and infrastructure, and the treatment system that supplies our region with fresh clean water.

Each tour is for a maximum of 20 people.
