Event description
A 3 Day intensive workshop exploring the use of the gong with a Yoga Nidra guided process for deep relaxation, healing and transformation

About this event

GONG NIDRA

One of the most profound ways to create deep relaxation with the gong is to combine it with a guided process known as Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep. This has the ability to heighten conscious awareness, activate self-diagnosis, integrate change and accelerate healing. It is a powerful tool for theraputic change and is accomplished over 45 – 60 minute relaxation period.

Refine your gong technique and learn and practice how to lead a gong nidra session, and receive the vibrations of the gong over the 3 days of this weekend.

The practice of Yoga Nidra can purify the deep impressions of the individual’s samskaras, the driving and often hidden karmic forces behind many of our actions and conditions. Essentially, the state of Yoga Nidra gives access to the mind that is underneath our normal processing, fantasising and imagining consciousness. It is an excellent tool for attenuating and eliminating habits and patterns of behaviour that are the root causes of physical and psychological problems that manifest in long-term stress, an inability to relax, and imbalances and disease.

Yoga Nidra follows the yogic model of healing through the five layers of existence of the human being called the koshas:

• Anamaya kośa – physical body - āsana

• Prāņamaya kośa – energy body – pranayama

• Manomaya kośa – emotional body – nāda mantra and sound

• Vijñānamaya kośa – mental body – meditation and knowledge

• Ānandamaya kośa –bliss body - soul

About Your Teacher: Sally Hutchison

Sally has been involved with music and singing for most of her life. She originally studied ethnomusicology with a special interest in Indian dance and vocal music and Indonesian music.

After many years of teaching and managerial roles in the education sector, several years ago she trained as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and became fascinated with the ability of the gong to induce a deep state of relaxation that she had never experienced before, as well as the transformative effect of mantra from the Sikh tradition. She became involved in the Shanti Mission Harmony Centre for many years and visited Śrī Śaktī Amma Nārāyaṇī’s ashram in India where she learned more about the chanting of Sanskrit mantra in the Hindu tradition.

Sally is passionate about using meditation and sound for healing both on the physical, energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.

She has also completed Nāda Yoga teacher training in India with Anandra George, an expert on Sanskrit mantra and Vedic chant, practitioner level Biofield Tuning with Eileen McKusick, Master Gong Practitioner Training with Mehtab Benton, Mongolian overtone chanting with Jill Purse and Tibetan mantra and bowls with Lama Tendar.

Several years ago, Sally trained as a Sound Healing Practitioner with the Sound Healing Academy UK and went on to become an associate teacher with the Academy. She delivers their courses in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Australia as well as her own courses specialising in Nāda Yoga (the yoga of sound).

Organiser Sally Hutchison

Organiser of Gong Nidra Workshop

Sound Healing Journeys

My purpose is to work with sound frequencies to induce a deep state of relaxation which is the optimal state in which healing can occur. Pure, clear sound waves which are emitted from the therapeutic sound tools work through the idea of sympathetic resonance travelling to where they are most needed, gently supporting the body in recognizing and correcting its own vibrational imbalances.

Sounds created can effect change on every level of being – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It’s an amazing and powerful process.

Sally Hutchison is the founder of Sound Healing Journeys and works with one-to-one clients and groups and runs workshops and retreats.

Sally draws on her background in music, education, life coaching, kundalini yoga and meditation.  Sally is a fully accredited Biofield Tuning Therapist and has a Diploma in Sound Healing from the Sound Healing Academy in the UK.
