Gold Coast Screen Industry Event: Tales of the Struggles
Event Information
About this Event
We’ve talked about how to get money, now let’s talk about the payoff. City of Gold Coast and Gold Coast Film Festival invite you to join us for an evening of roundtable discussions where you can hear from seasoned filmmakers about their experiences in the industry, navigating the complexities of a complex industry, and how to prevail in a changing sector.
Success in the screen industry is not easy, we all know that, so come along and speak with other practitioners about getting your film out there, thinking strategically about a project’s future and extending its longevity by leveraging un-tapped opportunities.
This is your chance to ask your burning questions, pick the brains of our guests and gain valuable tips and tricks – so bring your pen and paper!
The event will include break-out sessions where you can join four different roundtables to hear from speakers and brainstorm among the group in open and honest conversations.
The four roundtables discussions will cover:
• Pitching and developing stories
• Distribution, Festivals and conferences
• Financing and recoupment
• IP, Legals and Chain of Title
Each discussion area will have 1-2 guests who will speak about their experiences of overcoming struggles and give advice that they’ve refined during their career.
We also encourage you to bring along project concepts or ready-to-pitch material so you can test the waters and receive feedback in a welcoming peer environment.
