Event description

Description

Acts 29 invites you to join us on the beautiful Gold Coast for our annual network conference, February 21-23 2019.

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Cor 4:7)

Looking around our cultural landscape, we see a world marked by tension, outrage, and hostility. It is easy to become discouraged. And here, in 2 Corinthians 4, Paul reminds us of the beauty and power of the gospel. He reminds us that we have a message to proclaim, a posture to embody, and a mission to embrace. And he reminds us that God loves to show off His power through our weakness, “so we do not lose heart”(2 Cor 4:16).

We will be hearing from speakers like Matt Chandler, Steve Timmis, Adam Ramsey, Mez McConnell, Stephanie Judd and Acts 29 pastors from around our network, who will help us explore the various aspects of gospel ministry, while pointing us back to the surpassing power of Jesus that is at work in and through our lives.

This years conference will also include:

  • Worship led by Special Guest: Jeremiah Carr, from Epiphany Church, Philadelphia
  • Six plenary sessions from 2 Corinthians 4, with respected leaders from around the world
  • Breakout sessions targeting specific areas of church planting and pastoral ministry
  • Church planter Q&A panel
  • Time by some of Australia’s most stunning beaches

SPEAKERS

Matt Chandler

Matt serves as Lead Pastor of Teaching at The Village Church in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He has served in that role since December 2002 and describes his tenure at The Village as a re-planting effort where he was involved in changing the theological and philosophical culture of the congregation. The church has witnessed a tremendous response growing from 160 people to over 11,000 with campuses in Flower Mound, Dallas and Denton.

Alongside his current role as lead pastor, Matt is involved in church planting efforts both locally and internationally through The Village and various strategic partnerships. Prior to accepting the pastorate at The Village, Matt had a vibrant itinerant ministry for over 10 years where he spoke to thousands of people in America and abroad about the glory of God and beauty of Jesus. His greatest joy outside of Jesus is being married to Lauren and being a dad to their three children, Audrey, Reid and Norah.

Recently, Matt was named president of Acts 29, a worldwide church-planting organisation. Over the last 10 years, Acts 29 has emerged from a small band of brothers to over 700 churches globally.

Steve Timmis

Steve Timmis is CEO of Acts 29 and lives in Sheffield where he is the Senior Elder in The Crowded House Church. He is married to Janet and they have four children and 10 grandchildren. He lives in a house with four generations, a dog & 2 guinea pigs! He has co-authored a number of books (Total Church, Everyday Church, Multiplying Churches...) as well as managing to write a couple all on his own (Gospel Centred Leadership, I wish Jesus hadn't said that).

Adam Ramsey

Adam Ramsey leads the Liberti family of churches on the Gold Coast, Queensland, and also serves as the network director for Acts 29 Australia & New Zealand. After a decade of pioneering ministries in both Australia and the USA, Adam and his family moved home to the Gold Coast at the end of 2014 to plant a church that was unashamedly centred on Christ and committed to multiplication. Liberti has a vision to plant 'church-planting churches' around Australia, and in 2017 sent out their first church plant (Liberti Coomera) along with revitalising an existing church (Liberti Mermaid Beach) a few months later. Adam is deeply passionate about preaching the gospel, loves being married to Kristina, and wrestling with his five kids.

Mez McConnell

Mez McConnell is the senior pastor of Niddrie Community Church and the Co-director of the Acts 29 Church in Hard Places initiative. He spent four years working with street children in Brazil and planted the Good News Church. He is the director of 20Schemes, a church planting and revitalization initiative in Scotland. Mez is married to Miriam and has two daughters, Keziah and Lydia.

Stephanie Judd

Stephanie Judd is Women’s Ministry Director at City on a Hill, Melbourne and Associate Minister in the Lead Pastor's Office. In addition to her roles at City on a Hill Stephanie also teaches at various conferences and events. She is passionate about excellent teaching and preaching of the Word, and loves to help people see, understand, and feel their gospel reality with clarity, conviction, and joy. She is married to Andrew and together they have a son called Joshua who is an active, driven and dramatic one year old.

JereMiah Carr

JereMiah Daniel affectionately known as Dozzy is a singer, songwriter, and worship leader from Philadelphia, PA. He has enjoyed and been influenced by music in some way, shape or form for as long as he can remember. While studying Business Marketing & Management in Illinois, JereMiah felt an urgency to move to Philadelphia to further pursuing his passion for music. Not long after moving JereMiah visited Epiphany Fellowship, joined and began serving. JereMiah works to serve his community by pouring into other artists and creatives who are
passionate about sharing their gift to encourage, uplift, and spread the love of Christ within their families, their communities, and across the world. We are excited to have him lead worship at our network conference!

About Acts 29

Acts 29 is a diverse, global family of church-planting churches characterised by theological clarity, cultural engagement, and missional innovation

Acts 29 stands in the tradition of historic evangelical confessionalism. While we believe it is vital that the elders of each of our churches determine where they stand on doctrines of second importance, we do wish to make known our convictions on the following five theologically-driven core values:

  • Gospel centrality in all of life
  • The sovereignty of God in saving sinners
  • The work of the Holy Spirit for life and ministry
  • The equality of male and female and the principle of male servant leadership
  • The local church as God’s primary mission strategy

Acts 29 will ensure that we are known for planting churches that plant churches, pursuing holiness and humility, being a radically diverse and global community, and praying for conversions through evangelism.

Acts 29 will succeed to the extent that it recruits church planters dedicated to leading church-planting churches, assesses men based on core competencies to lead church-planting churches, and develops men who are planting or leading church-planting churches through coaching, training, and support.
