What Is a HYPE UQ SPIN Lab?

SPIN Lab, developed by the HYPE Foundation, is a global startup accelerator that delivers a sports-specific program providing access to global mentors, investors and experienced hosts to fast-track promising local startups onto the world stage. SPIN Lab leverages HYPE’s existing sportstech platform which already engages over 8,000 startups and 26,000 sports innovators across the world. SPIN Lab augments HYPE's SPIN 50 program that seeks out and assists the top 50 sports startups worldwide.

The University of Queensland is delighted to be selected by the HYPE Foundation as one of four only international organisations to host SPIN Lab Accelerator for up to 12 startups from across Australia and surrounding regions. SPIN Lab Australia will be a combination of virtual and residential participation. Participants in this no-charge / no-equity program will pitch to national and international sports investors and stakeholders at the Commonwealth Games in April next year and compete for $25,000 prize money.

Applications are open until December 15, 2017 with the program commencing in early 2018.
