WeWork, Level 4, 152 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne

Women and girls make up the majority of the world’s poor and marginalised and are afflicted with some of the harshest aspects of poverty. We need to invest in their health, education and opportunities that enable women leaders and entrepreneurs to thrive in global economies.

Join us to join us for a panel discussion with representatives from across the media, business and entertainment industries about how they are playing a role in ending gender based inequality here in Australia and around the world.

This is a FREE event open to everyone - our 2019 International Women's Day event sold out - make sure you RSVP now to reserve your spot!

Refreshments and nibbles provided from 6.15pm, with remarks and discussions kicking off at 6.30pm sharp. The event will close with a networking opportunity to meet the speakers and fellow attendees.

Speakers //

Each of these wonderful speakers will share how they work in their communities and industries to address the systemic challenges preventing women and girls around the world from reaching their potential.

James Bartle is the mastermind behind Outland Denim, a denim brand that crafts artisan quality jeans and directly prevents women from falling into poverty by providing training and employment opportunities for those vulnerable to exploitation. In 2018, the brand blew up thanks to Meghan Markle, who wore the jeans during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's tour of Australia.

Mamamia — Australia's largest women's media brand, home to millions of monthly readers and listeners — has the simple goal of making the world a better place for women and girls. Sales Manager Simone Masci will share the impact media organisations and big companies have when they partner with brands and charities that promote the wellbeing and empowerment of girls and women.

At 20 years old, Mandhree Ekanayake is the youngest and first culturally diverse assistant state commissioner of Girl Guides Victoria. Mandhree works to help young girls live their lives to a purpose greater than themselves and access equal opportunities across education, leadership, health and wellbeing. On the night, Mandhree will share how seemingly small action-taking can have profound consequences and lead to larger social change.

Conversation hosted by Sarah Meredith, Australian Country Director, Global Citizen.
