Help us celebrate the 12th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.
What is Digital Accessibility?
Every user deserves a first-rate digital experience on the web. Someone with a disability must be able to experience web-based services, content and other digital products with the same successful outcome as those without disabilities. This awareness and commitment to inclusion is the goal of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a global event that shines a light on digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities.
This year we are spotlighting a tool that you probably already know how to use, Zoom. But did you know how this tool can be used to provide access and inclusion to people with Disabilities?
In this panel discussion, we will hear from staff and students who have experienced varying levels of inclusion through hybrid communication platforms.
Providing a screen at the table supports people with Disabilities to participate in our community when a seat isn’t available. That’s why this Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the DAWN Network and University Libraries is encouraging everyone to reflect on how to provide screens (and not just seats) at the table for all members of our University community.
