Description

Come join us for Girl Talk - Straight Talk about Marriage and Intimacy with author and speaker Sheila Wray Gregoire.

Relationship and sex spokeswoman Sheila Gregoire will speak at a funny but practical night helping married women rediscover the bliss of married sex!

Do good girls have more fun? For her book The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex, author Sheila Gregoire conducted two surveys of over 1,000 married women. And she found that the most sexually satisfied women tend to be married Christians. Echoing other surveys that show that married women, and specifically married religious women, tend to have more fun in bed than single women, Gregoire says, “the hooking up culture isn’t that wonderful in real life. The best aphrodisiac for women is actually commitment!”

But just because married women may have better sex doesn’t mean that we’ve achieved “great” yet. And that’s where Gregoire comes in. With her comedic, no-nonsense style, she shares from the heart about why sex so often becomes a source of tension in relationship, and what we can do to turn it into the spark that keeps our relationship alive.

She’ll be bringing the wisdom from her research and her book. The night will feature comedy, statistics on how couples are faring, and lots of advice on how to build a great marriage, including understanding guys better, and understanding ourselves better. And of course, light refreshments will be provided.

“One of the big tensions in marriage is that men and women tend to approach sex very differently,” Gregoire claims. And it all boils down to this truism: “Men make love to feel loved, whereas women need to feel loved to make love.” When we don’t understand this about each other, Gregoire explains, sex will tend to become a hindrance rather than a help in marriage.

During her “Girl Talk”, Gregoire will cover everything from:

  • How women’s sex drives tend to differ from men’s
  • How Hollywood makes us insecure
  • Why marriage tends to bring better sex
  • How to get over some of the barriers to great sex, including fatigue, having kids hanging off of you, and baggage you bring into marriage.

And she’ll show how some of the things we commonly think will make marriage better—like using porn or reading 50 Shades of Grey, can actually backfire. “Sex is supposed to be a spiritual connection, and not just a physical connection,” Gregoire explains. “Emphasize only the physical, and it can easily become shallow and selfish.”

In a nutshell, Gregoire sums up her message like this: “Billions of people have had sex. I’m not sure how many have actually made love.” And for women who want to learn how to make sex something that binds the marriage together, Girl Talk will be a fun but life-changing evening! Tickets are $15 online or $25 at the door.
