Azadeh Khojandi - What are SOLID principles?
You might have been unlucky enough to work on a project that has become a nightmare to maintain. Probably you noticed no one likes to fix a bug or add a new feature in it. The SOLID principles provide five object oriented design guidelines which can dramatically enhance the maintainability of software. It was introduced by Robert C Martin, also known as "Uncle Bob". Each letter represents one principle:
Lucy Bain - What's holding you back from connecting with others?
We interact with people every day, let's do it a bit better! First we'll cover a bit about improving how you connect with people day to day. Then we'll take a leap and discuss some ways to organise events that work for you, so you get the most out of the experience. Improving both yourself and the community can be a lot of work, but I've found them to be immensely valuable worth it to form deeper relationships with the people I meet.
Amanda Elliott - I never signed up for this trainwreck!
What happens when your new job is full of promises for career development, understanding of your skills, and change, but you soon realise you're taking over someone else's disaster? This presentation will explore working on technical things under a non-technical management, and how to deal with the trainwreck takeover.
Note: Please try to arrive on time as the lifts need swipe access to get to Level 6. There will be someone to swipe people up, but they can’t stay downstairs forever!
If you arrive early, you may need to wait in Atlassian's reception area until our door-person arrives, as they need to mark your name off our Guest List.
Our pizzas are full of gluten and cheese, so if you have any food intolerances, you're best off bringing a snack! There will be vegetarian options.
