Event description
The Active Learning Toolkit workshops will introduce you to a range of software to facilitate active learning in your online classes.

About this event

This workshop is for staff who have just started or want to start using Zoom for active learning. In this session, we will go through how to set up a session in addition to providing an overview of some of the functionality that you can use to actively engage learners. This is not suitable if you have extensive knowledge of Zoom.

Zoom is a great tool for synchronous sessions but how do you use the functionality for active learning online? This workshop will cover:

  • How to create, host and record a Zoom meeting for teaching and learning
  • Recommended settings for hosting Zoom classrooms
  • How to actively engage learners with built in functionality including verbal and non-verbal feedback, polling, and breakout rooms

Joan Sutherland is a Senior Education Developer in the Digital Learning Innovation team where she is currently leading the digital collaboration project to explore the pedagogical strategies that underpin digital collaboration.
