Event description

Description

What is Co-Design?

Co-Design is a deliberate approach to complex problem-solving that attempts to strategically and actively involve all relevant stakeholders in the design and decision-making process.

Co-Design goes beyond traditional consultation. Instead of interpreting what stakeholders ‘say’ in relation to the problem, or observing what people ‘do’ when using services or products, Co-Design creates a space for diverse groups to participate in the design process end-to-end to ensure the outcomes are more equitable and sustainable.

Introduction to Co-Design | Morning | 10.00 AM - 12.30 PM

What will you learn?

This introductory workshop follows a rapid and simplified version of Peer Academy’s Co-Design Program.

Participants are lead through a range of practical exercises that demonstrate the basic principles, processes and tools employed through Peer Academy's Co-Design work in the public purpose sector. Exercises include exploring complex problems and identifying optimistic opportunities, generating creative ideas as potentials solutions, and rapid-prototyping and testing solutions for implementation.

Is this for you?

This introductory workshop is for people who are looking to establish basic literacy around the principles, processes, and tools of Co-Design.

For people who also have an interest in leading and facilitating Co-Design, please join us for the Introduction to Co-Design Facilitation workshop.

Introduction to Facilitating Co-Design | Afternoon | 1.30 PM - 4.00 PM

Why are facilitation skills important in Co-Design practice?

For many, we have an interest in growing our Co-Design literacy through leading and facilitating Co-Design groups. While we may understand the basic principles, processes, and tools of Co-Design we may feel less confident as facilitators in creating the space for Co-Design groups to thrive.

Co-Design often involves a diverse range of people, with varied experiences and backgrounds. Your role as facilitator is highly influential in creating the safe spaces and conversations required to actively draw on the wisdom of the group.

What will you learn?

Rather than prescribing a framework for Co-Design facilitation, this workshop teaches a set key principles that facilitators can employ to allow a Co-Design group to thrive:

  • Setting up a Co-Design process for success

  • We are all equal

  • Co-Design begins right here, with us

  • The Growth Zone

  • A Fluid Plan

  • Modelling Vulnerability

This workshop is action-based, allowing participants to practice these facilitation principles in a safe environment with the support of a peer group.

Is this for you?

This is for people interested in leading and facilitating Co-Design groups in their working environment. To get a taste of the principles, processes, and tools of the Co-Cesign, join us for the Introduction to Co-Design.
