Get the buzz on bees - a 'Get your garden on' event!
Date and time
Bee hotels are everywhere at the moment, and are a great way to encourage native bees to your backyard.
About this event
However, not all hotels are created equal. In this one-hour workshop, you will learn the tips and tricks to build a Grand Plaza, Ritz, or Raffles, rather than purchasing a Holiday Inn for native bees. The workshop will also include:
- What Australian native bees use bee hotels and how to identify them
- What is going on inside the hotel – discover the weird lifecycle of native bees
- A bee has got to eat – find out what plants and garden structures encourage native bees and urban biodiversity
- You will build your very own bee hotel from recycled materials and learn how to look after it
- And, take home a 'guide to native bees in Adelaide' brochure, which includes a comprehensive list of locally native plants that are loved by our native bees
Presented by pollination ecologist Bianca Amato.
If you own secateurs, please bring them to the workshop.
Bookings are essential.
