Event description

Description

Kids with an interest in coding will love our hands-on 2-hour workshop for beginners. They’ll get to explore 2 different coding environments – Gamefroot and Stencyl and will go home ready to start creating their own games using this free and accessible software.

With the help of experienced Coder Academy facilitators and library staff, participants will dabble and adjust the different game templates. Splitting up into 2 small groups, they’ll complete a 45-60 minute session with 1 coding platform and then swap to the other.

This workshop will develop the confidence to keep exploring at home, building their own games or collaborating with others.

Coder Academy

Home to the famous coding bootcamp, this is the space to go to learn coding and web programming. Since 2013, this savvy school has been giving the coding curious the means to reach their tech dreams. Combining skill and know-how, they’re helping to shape even the wildest of visions.

This free event is suitable for 10 to 12-year-olds. Parents are required to stay in the library during the workshop. With a maximum of 20 participants, bookings are essential.

Surry Hills Library is wheelchair friendly.
