Genomics to the Artemis High Performance Computer


Please note: OWN LAPTOP REQUIRED. If Windows operating system, please ensure your laptop has a terminal client installed. If a laptop is required let us know and we may be able to provide one for the training.

Synopsis: The Genomics course covering DNA sequencing analysis on Artemis aims to introduce users to running a common bioinformatics workflow on a high-performance computing cluster. Users will be introduced to the concepts of quality checking and control, reference mapping and variant calling using PBS scripts. We will familiarize users with standard file types used in genomics and we will discuss some of the considerations that should be taken when customising pipelines to their specific analyses.

Target audience: Students and staff who would like to run genomics pipelines using Artemis HPC

Essential pre-requisites: Competency on the Unix/Linux command line. An practical understanding of Artemis HPC job submission and data structure. The previous course will cover required information.
