Event description

Description

Please note: this workshop is for University of Melbourne students only.

Join writer Cynthia Troup in a Generative Writing workshop that links mindfulness with the practice of writing. Cynthia will guide participants through a series of activities and techniques that emphasise openness to the mind’s natural creativity, and awareness of the body. Participants will also explore ways to improve their stamina and imagination for writing. The workshop is applicable to all forms of writing and accommodates all skill levels.

Cynthia Troup is a writer based in regional Victoria. Cynthia’s creative work often emphasises the inherent musicality of language, and the allusive richness of fragments. Her texts have been performed in concert and theatre settings; her publications range from scripts and podcasts to interviews in the fields of contemporary art and music. Cynthia has taught emerging artists at the VCA Centre for Ideas, and students of creative writing at RMIT University, the University of Melbourne, and Deakin University. Recent publications include the memoir extract ‘Three Fragments for Her History of the Father’ in Southerly, vol. 78.2, The Lives of Others.
