GenderationForChange is a conversation starter. A catalyst for change. A change that aims to engage, empower and educate the young men and women in our community to challenge gender norms and stereotypes; to rethink the value placed on women within our society; to recognise the face of domestic violence within our communities; and most importantly, to act as #GenderationAgents by challenging prevailing norms and speaking up against family violence.
GenderationForChange is being organised by the Sikh Women's and Girls' Group (S.W.A.G.G); a community not-for-profit organisation working to promote healthy, harmonious families and relationships within the Indian community. SWAGG aims to highlight the importance of educating and empowering our community on what healthy relationships look like, and the role young men and women play in transforming the world we live in.
On the night, you will have the opportunity to hear from and engage with leaders within our community who are working activity to drive positive change, and shift the stigma associated with family violence. These leaders include TarangChawla, a White Ribbon Ambassador and writer; RachnaMalik, Multicultural Police Liaison Officer; and Pritika Desai, recipient of the NT Young Achiever of the Year Award and Creative Director at the Multicultural Women’s Hub.
