Event description

Description

The theme of this High Table is "Genderally - what do you 'generally' experience, identifying as a certain gender?". Many incredible and inspiring guests are invited to discuss their experiences in their academic and professional careers which were largely shaped by gender. Topics that will arise include experiences of gender-based discrimination, the domination of certain academic disciplines and work fields by a particular gender, and how this can change.

The very special guests who are attending include:

  1. Yvette Berry - Deputy Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, Minister for Women, Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Minister for Education and Early Childhood Development, Minister for Housing and Suburban Development and Minister for Sport and Recreation.

  2. Margaret Thornton - Emerita Professor of Law, Barrister of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, internationally recognised and published socio-legal and feminist scholar.

  3. Michelle Worthington - ANU Law Lecturer.

  4. Aaron Tang - Research Officer at the Climate Change Institute & Fenner School of Environment and Society, PhD Candidate at ANU, tutor.

  5. Kieran Pender - Legal advisor at the International Bar Association, Visiting Fellow at ANU CoL’s Centre for International and Public Law, freelance journalist.

    1. (Sophia Collins - Final year ANU law student, former intern under Kieran Pender at the International Bar Association London.)
