Description

Join VNPA's ReefWatch program to gear up for the Great Victorian Fish Count

It is that time of year again, when you blow the cobwebs out of your snorkel (no one wants to swallow a spider!) and prepare yourself to jump back in the sea to participate in the Great Victorian Fish Count.

The Victorian National Parks Association’s ReefWatch program in partnership with Museums Victoria, is thrilled to invite you to an evening of inspiring marine themed talks to celebrate the addition of five stingrays and five friendly shark species to the Great Victorian Fish Count.

  • Our ReefWatch coordinator Kade will introduce you to the new additions to this year’s Great Victorian Fish Count and share highlights from the 2016 count

  • Di Bray from Museums Victoria will share stories from the first dedicated expedition to explore the Australian abyssal waters.

  • The Operation Sponge team will tell us how they completed the world’s largest sponge transplant at Blairgowrie Pier.

  • We will learn more about the Project Banjo action group and their tireless work #Rays-ing Awareness to change outcomes for the rays of Victoria.

  • Parks Victoria will highlight some of the amazing work they are doing to protect parts of our underwater world.
