Event description

Description

With Sydney’s abundant sunshine, we could easily use direct solar radiation more for cooking. In fact, solar cooking is practiced by millions of people around the world particularly where access to inexpensive energy is not available.

In this workshop, you’ll learn about the main types of solar cookers, what you can cook in them, where to obtain them – and, of course, there’ll be lots of great food and recipes to share.

The Centre has both parabolic and box oven solar cookers which can be used for baking, roasting, BBQ, grilling and slow cooking. Box cookers can also be used as a food dehydrator.

Our presenter will also demonstrate and discuss practical ways to avoid and reduce food and packaging waste and how to recycle unavoidable packaging.

These sustainable workshops are funded by Campbelltown City Council with the goal of increasing environmental stewardship within the Campbelltown community.
