Event description

Description

Do you find yourself wondering what an artist is trying to tell you through their work?

Join WAG volunteers and staff as we venture through the artworks displayed in the Collection: 1886 to Now exhibition, the experience will be through the eyes and mind of an artist. We will hold detailed analytical discussions that unravel the messages and conceptual layers of a number of key works in this exhibition. Why did the artist create these works and what socio-economic influences are evident? How are these issues portrayed and addressed in the artwork; how is it relevant to our current social state? Together with the WAG staff, you will enhance your comprehension skills that will extend beyond the visual surface an...d into all of the complex layers that each artwork comprises. This discussion is an intimate and casual approach to art viewing and art making, with the aim to facilitate a friendly environment for the community to further engage with the arts.

This activity is sure to cultivate your observation skills, and equip you with the right tools for use in any future artistic setting. Come and indulge yourself in this new way of seeing, thinking and discovering, come and see what you’ve been missing out on!
