Description

In discussing the future of work and the skills needed by today’s school children, a report ‘by the Regional Australia Institute and NBN has found that one in two Australians will need skills in programming, software development and building digital technology to remain competitive in 2030

With an expanding ‘gig economy’ there is a huge market of people with highly specialised skills that are available for short term hire. ’ SMH, 11/11/16

Kevin Wheeler (Talent Futurist) is talking about 'microjobs' growing in numbers and having a catalogue of skills rather than expertise and credentials.

Different generations approach job search from different places. Older workers are savvier on LinkedIn, new generations use other social media and peer networks. What we look for in candidates and how we employ them in changing. Graduates are no longer expecting a ‘job for life’ and are expected to change careers a number of times in their lives. Skills such as critical thinking and ability to manage change are more in demand.

We will be discussing what place recruitment has in helping plan for skills gaps going forward. How do we engage with potential candidates now to give our organisation the skills for the future?

This event will cover:

  • Recruiting for tomorrow’s workforce today

  • How do you help your organisation gain the skills they need to succeed?

  • Changing the perception of your organisation as an employer of choice to attract the right people

  • How do you recruit and manage a gig or short-term workforce without using 3rd party recruiters?

  • Will the future of work be less about the traditional job and more a focus on skills?
