Event description

Description

Just because we’ve run out of space in the Scott Theatre, it doesn’t mean you’ve missed out on our Space Forum with Australian Astronaut Dr Andy Thomas AO.

Join us in the Hub Central to watch our livestream of the panel. You can enjoy refreshments, watch the forum on the big screen, submit questions to the panel and attend our Space Careers Expo, where you will have the chance to meet Andy and our other panellists, plus representatives from Space industry and education.

The event will also be live-streamed by The Advertiser. Stay tuned for the details of how you can be involved online.

Tickets will be checked at the door for this highly anticipated event so please register via the waitlist.

If you're not lucky enough to get a ticket, never fear - you can follow the action live at bit.ly/space-forum-livestream and ask questions with the hashtag #FutureProofSpace on Twitter.

Humanity is once again looking to the stars, and this time Adelaide, now home to the Australian Space Agency, will be front and centre. The new push to head back to the moon and beyond will require engineers, computer scientists, space lawyers and yes, astronauts - but how do you prepare for one of these lifelong careers?

Join Adelaide-born NASA astronaut Dr Andy Thomas AO at this free jobs forum, presented by The Advertiser and the University of Adelaide, to learn about his journey, and the exciting professions the space industry offers.

Dr Thomas will be joined on stage by Flavia Tata Nardini, co-founder of Fleet Space Technologies, Inovor Technologies founder Dr Matthew Tetlow, the University's Associate Professor John Culton - an expert in "off-earth resources" - and space mining expert Katie Hulmes from OZ Minerals.

Space Careers and Education Expo

Audience members are encouraged to mingle with the panellists at a Space Careers and Education Expo following the forum, held in the University of Adelaide’s Hub Central from 7.30pm.

Students, parents and educators can meet representatives from space and technology companies and experts will be able to answer detailed questions about opportunities in the sector.

Who knows - this forum could well change your life!

This is a free event but registration is essential.

Doors open at 5:45pm for a 6:00pm start.
