Overview

Future Planning: Beyond Diagnosis program by Dementia Australia. Suitable for people living with dementia and their family/carers.

This program provides guidance for people living with dementia, their family members and family carers to plan for the future, once they have come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia and understand the symptoms and impacts of dementia.

It includes topics such as accommodation and living arrangements, financial considerations, decision-making, planning health care, options for people in employment, and strategies for communicating and implementing plans.

Suitable for: People living with dementia and their family carers and family members. Participants should have a good understanding of dementia and feel ready to think about the future in detail. This program is not intended as professional education for workers employed in the health or aged care sectors.

This program runs over 5 sessions on every Thursday, and each session is two hours and a half. To complete this program, you must attend all the 5 sessions:

  • Thursday, 22 January 2026 from 09:30am to 12:00pm
  • Thursday, 29 January 2026 from 09:30am to 12:00pm
  • Thursday, 05 February 2026 from 09:30am to 12:00pm
  • Thursday, 12 February 2026 from 09:30am to 12:00pm
  • Thursday, 19 February 2026 from 09:30am to 12:00pm

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This program is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

The information to access the online program will be provided upon confirmation of eligibility for the program and registration with Dementia Australia. This event will be delivered using Microsoft Teams. If you have not used Teams previously our team member will provide support before the event to ensure you can join in with ease.
