Event description

Description

Please note that this is a two part workshop taking place on the 13th and 20th October, between 9am and 12pm.

A hooded top is a garment that is familiar with many people, its design is straight-forward and practical. But what if we approached the style in an otherworldly direction? Instead of a hood that connects from the neckline we will make it emerge from the armhole creating a neoclassical drape when worn up and a surreal curve when worn down. If you're familiar with the Pattern Magic series of sewing books by Tomoko Nakamichi, then you'll enjoy this guided workshop (and if you are not… check it out!).

This workshop is ideal for participants with any level of sewing and pattern making experience. You will walk away with the garment you create. Please keep in mind that the fabric and thread we provide is limited in colours. We will also take you through a Sewing Machine Induction, so that you can come back and use the sewing machines in your own time.

You will need to bring: 1 T-shirt that fits you as a size guide

All other materials will be provided however if you have some you may wish to bring your own grading ruler and French curve (optional)

Techniques that will be covered:

  • Pattern making
  • Sewing using a domestic machine
