Register now to help shape the Future Drought Fund
The Future Drought Fund is an Australian Government measure to benefit all Australians.
We plan to build drought resilience through a new $3.9 billion Future Drought Fund, which is expected to grow to $5 billion by 2028-29. From 1 July 2020, $100 million will be available each year to support Australian farmers and communities to become more prepared for, and resilient to, the effects of drought.
The Fund will support activities to help prepare for future droughts; it is not intended to provide in-drought support. The Fund will invest in research and innovation, research extension, the adoption of new and existing technology, improved environmental and natural resource management, infrastructure and community initiatives. This will make agriculture more productive and profitable and enhance the wellbeing of our farming communities.
We are developing the Drought Resilience Funding Plan, which is a high level framework to guide the design of programs that will allocate funding to projects and activities.
The public consultation is a way to share your ideas and provide feedback on the draft Drought Resilience Funding Plan.
