Discover the art of Furniture Restoration with stenciling and chalk paint!

About this event

It's an amazing feeling bringing new life to an old piece of furniture!

In this amherst edit community workshop, you will learn the basics of furniture stencilling and chalk painting to create a completely new reimagined piece of furniture art.

With quality tools from Gemini Stencils and Autentico chalk paint from the UK, you'll create something very unique! Incorporate stripe techniques or a number of other chalk painting techniques to amp up your project, you'll be guided every step of the way to ensure that you have a beautiful work of furniture art that you're thrilled with by the end of the workshop.

Your instructor is Elisa Viola, Italian artist and experienced furniture restorer from Sparkling Restorations in South Perth. With Elisa's passion and knowledge, this is sure to be a delightful and educational workshop of mindful creativity and sustainability.

In this workshop, you will:

  • learn the basics of furniture restoration
  • learn about prepping your furniture piece ready for restoration
  • learn the fundamentals of chalk painting furniture
  • learn how to apply stencilling to your project
  • learn blending and other techniques to incorporate stencilling to your piece
  • learn how to complete the project with sealing techniques and aftercare
  • be fed and watered with tasty treats and beverages during the workshop
  • have a few hours of mindful and creative fun for yourself!
  • take home your masterpiece to show off to family and friends!

Workshop: Furniture Restoration with Stencilling and Chalk Painting

When: Saturday 23rd October

Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm (doors open 9amam)

Where: amherst edit, 17 Blinco St, Fremantle (free parking onsite or free street parking)

Who: over 18s only

Arrive at least 20 mins prior to the workshop start to choose your spot, get settled and grab a drink!

Included in your ticket:

  • an introduction to chalk painting and the art of decoupage
  • all paints, stencils and materials to complete your project
  • guided furniture restoration session
  • hot or cold drink on arrival, drinks during the workshop
  • yummy snacks during the workshop

Bring along:

  • a small piece of furniture to restore (eg. bedside table, coffee table, side table, chest or small drawers etc.)
  • wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting paint onto (it can happen!), aprons will be provided in the workshop
  • your curiosity, sense of wonder and fun!

Our resident coffeeshop, Microlotte is open from 7am and during the workshop course so feel free to pop by early to grab a coffee before the workshop. Microlatte also serve baked pastries, hot toasties and sweet snacks!
