Event description

Description

Xponential and Morgan Stanley lunchtime briefings provide insights into issues relevant for chief executives and board members of charities and non-profit organisations. During the briefings, there are sector and market updates from Xponential Fundraising and Morgan Stanley, followed by a presentation from an expert speaker and ending with a facilitated discussion with the expert and guests.

This session features expert fundraising advisors Dr Erica Myers-Davis and Roewen Wishart CFRE FFIA.

With the recent outpouring of generosity from Australians and people from around the world for bushfire relief, this disaster and its subsequent fundraising efforts have created some unintended consequences from both well meaning and ill intentioned people. Aside from over 400 bushfire related fundraising scams that have been reported to the ACCC, a significant number of people are simply unaware of state fundraising regulations and the Fundraising Institute of Australia's (FIA) Code of Ethics to which fundraising professionals and members of the FIA must adhere.

This session is a timely reminder of your NFP's statutory oblilgations when it comes to soliciting funds from the public - whether through appeals, door knocks, direct mail, emails, raffles, lotteries, telemarketing, face to face, events or auctions.

About the Speakers

Dr Erica Myers-Davis is the Chief Provocateur at Xponential with over two decades of fundraising, marketing and business experience across all NFP sectors as well in the commercial sector in financial services, telecommunications, tourism and the music industry. A multi disciplinary professional, Erica specialises in working with small to medium NFPs or those who are new to fundraising. She is a member of the Charity Law Association ANZ, a Fellow of the RSA and is the regular host of the Xponential Morgan Stanley NFP lunchtime briefings.

Roewen Wishart CFRE FFIA is High Value & Strategy Director of Xponential Group with over 25 years experience. Xponential advises not-for-profits on big gift campaigns, fundraising strategy, and gifts in wills programs.
