February –Philip Rush – Author, poet, Broadcaster - Come along and be entertained by one of Australia's foremost bush poets. Philip appears regularly on the ABC Radio performing his poetry - but meet him in person! His quick wit and way with words is formidable.
March – Gardens of Lucindale – with Jo Saxon - To say Jo Saxon is an amazing gardener is a total understatement! Come along and watch how she has transformed the property she purchased not once, but twice! It is a real inspiration for anyone with a garden or those who love beautiful landscapes!
April – Fungi - with Heather Elson - Join photographer and naturalist Heather Elson on a photographic Journey of the fungi of the Huon Valley. Heather has a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a passion for fungi. Learn all about the amazing fungi we have in Tasmania and where to find them!
May – MS Month - Huon Valley Council - It is MS month - but what is MS? I have a friend with MS but how can I help? How to spot the signs and help those who are affected.
June– Tai Chi and Chinese Dance with Zhi Ying - Join the lovely Zhiying Foster for a beginners work shop in Tai Chi and Chinese Dance. This traditional form of Tai Chi will be a relaxing session, that is simple to learn and particularly good for seniors! Bring a towel and comfortable clothing - men and women welcome.
July – Ear Health and free hearing tests with Australian Hearing - Come along and learn about how to ensure you have the best hearing you possibly can for as long as possible! Get a free hearing check at the same time!
August – Still Gardening - Come along and learn about how to create your water-wise garden and control pests and diseases, so you have a beautiful garden!
September – Textiles art with Linda Chee at Franklin - Geckostrands is a textile studio creating eco dyed wool and cashmere wearables. The studio is situated 1.9 km south of Franklin village overlooking the Huon River. This contemporary studio provides a fabulous place to interact with the artist creating the works. Linda works with a variety of fabrics and will explain the process and introduce you to the distinctive smell of Eucalypts embedded into works.
October - Women’s Health – Huon Valley Council - A focus on women's health topics with the opportunity to ask questions
November – Eat to Beat Ageing – Huon Valley Council - Ngaire Hobbins, dietician, lecturer and author, on the topic “Eat to Cheat Ageing”. Feedback from her appearance in January in Huonville was excellent - don't miss out on this fantastic talk.
December – Australian Antarctic Division - Guest speak Jan Adolf
