Event description
Bring along your broken electrical 'waste' to not only help get it repaired by Elektrolab but also pick up some new fix-it skills yourself.

About this Event

Have you come out of the other end of the whirlwind of 2020 with broken bits and bobs of electrical waste that you have no idea how to fix?

Bring them along to our Electrical Repair Workshop.

In this workshop Tara and Michelle of Elektrolab will help you repair all your fiddly electrical goods that you’re not ready to let go of. They can help you fix:

  • Christmas 'waste' e.g. battery operated devices
  • Musical and audio equipment
  • Audio electronics
  • Micro controllers
  • Mac & PC

Basic tools and supplies will be available plus light refreshments.

This workshop is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council as part of the Low Waste Living program.

About Elektrolab

Elektrolab is an artist run collective of two new media artists based in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Formed in 2020, after realising there was a gap in the local arts scene for installation work, training and support for new media technologies in the arts, Elektrolab is Tara Pattenden and Michelle Brown. They bring over 40 years of combined experience working in the arts and with emerging technologies.

Elektrolab offers skill building in creative technology projects through a range of short and long term workshops, mentoring programs and panel presentations in an inclusive context. Build your hardware and software skills in topics such as Arduino, Teensy, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Sensors and Electronics Hardware. Get hands on with fabrication techniques for installation work and online showcase. Include us in your panel discussions or presentations.

Elektrolab also creates collaborative arts based output, from virtual reality installations to live performance with wearable art. We can develop innovative and site specific based new media art projects based on budget and deliverable requirements.
