Description

Black Barn Farm and Beechworth Food Co-op present a:

FRUIT TREE GRAFTING WORKSHOP

Day includes:

  • Expert hands on tuition from career orchardist and master graftsman Henry Hilton from Snowline Fruits

  • Full local fare lunch

  • 2 of your very own grafted apple trees to take home (choose from over 10 heritage and modern apple varieties)

Join us at Black Barn Farm in our old apple packing shed during an early Spring morning while the moon is waxing and the sap is starting to flow as you learn the ancient art of grafting your very own fruit trees.

Charlie Showers from Black Barn Farm will take you through the different types of grafts, why graft at all, best time of year to graft, knife safety, rootstocks, scion wood and permaculture tips and tricks. Henry Hilton will impart his decades of grafting knowledge giving you a grafting demonstration and of course coaching you through plenty of grafting practice before you eventually try your skills on your very own apple trees to take home.

BYO grafting knife (grafting knives are strongly suggested over a normal pocket knife for an effective graft). If you don't have a grafting knife you can purchase this swiss made Felco grafting knife for just $20 online from Forestry Tools.

This workshop is limited to just 20 tickets so book early, last year sold out.

$10 discount for Beechworth Food Co-op members, if you'd like to join or find out more about the Beecwhorth Food Co-op click here
