Stuart Myers, Equiculture. - Changing horse management practices to meet the needs of the 21st century horse. Horse management practices have evolved over the centuries, the changing role of horses and the lifestyles of modern horse owners have created different needs and issues from the 'traditional model'.
Jude Matusiewicz, Evidence Based Worming - Evidence-based worming is a scientific, yet practical approach to mitigating the growing threat of worm resistance to chemical wormers. Resistance is world-wide and escalating and Jude will talk about the international efforts to combat resistance and the important role that Faecal Egg Counts can play.
Kimberley King, “Riverview” - Adopting and Applying Evidence Based Worming at “Riverview” Hear how Kimberley King has encouraged and enabled agistees at Riverview to undertake evidence-based worming. Including, some of the challenges and practical issues that Riverview have overcome.
ACT Gvoerment Vet, Hendra Virus - The ACT Government vet will cover the following issues: What is Hendra virus, history/incidence of Hendra virus cases in Australia. Recognising Hendra virus in your horse and what do if you suspect my horse has Hendra virus. Testing for Hendra virus and Hendra virus biosecurity; minimising the risk .
Natasha Webb, Webb Equine Education, Poisonous plants - Learn about the grasses anf weeds in your paddaock that can have an impact on the hleaht and well-being of your horse.
