Event description

Description

Wild Weeds Press takes pleasure in inviting you to the launch of From the Darkness, an anthology of work from some of WA's best young writers, all graduates of the KSP Writers' Centre 2017 program.

From the Darkness features a collection of stories, poems and articles that will take the reader from the dark side of life into the light at the end of the tunnel. The book includes cover art and illustrations by 22-year-old university graphic design student Corrina Mcbeath, and a foreword by Westerly journal editor, Dr Catherine Noske.

The book will be launched by local author Meg Caddy. Meg's YA fantasy novel Waer was shortlisted for the 2013 Text Prize, which led to a contract with Text Publishing. Meg was also the 2013 Young Writer-in-Residence at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre. Her short story Amphibian Summer was shortlisted for the Questions Writing Prize, and her poetry has been shortlisted for the Ethel Webb Bundell Poetry Prize. For the past five years, Meg has been working with children of all ages, including as the youth tutor at the KSP Writers' Centre. She is passionate about storytelling, pirates, and lizards. http://www.megcaddy.com/

PLEASE NOTE: All contributing authors are eligible to collect a free copy of the anthology at the launch - just present your name at the sales desk. Additional copies will be available to purchase at $15 each (cash only) while stocks last, OR you can pre-order online at the discounted price of $10 each (plus Eventbrite fees) to ensure they are there for you on the day.

Please bring a small plate of food to share, sweet or savoury, and wear your Darkest or Lightest atire. Complimentary tea, coffee and Milo will be on offer.

This anthology project has been funded by the Western Australian Government through the Department of Culture and the Arts. KSP would also like to thank the Shire of Mundaring and Bendigo Bank Mundaring for funding support, and project partners Westerly, Northam Library, Express Media, Mundaring Arts Centre, and Propel Youth Arts WA.
