Event description

Description

As part of a set of nation-wide STEM outreach events run by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in 2017, we wish to invite your school to attend our Astronaut Stories - From STEM to Space. The event hopes to connect students with astronauts and leading icons of the space industry and the Australian STEM field.

The event is catered to Years 8 – 10 students, with the intent to inspire an interest in STEM fields. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside an astronaut in an interactive workshop, have the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of industry guests from all stages in their careers, and attend many other activities throughout the day.

It is preferred that school groups attending consist of a broad range of students, i.e. not a hand-selected group of students who are already enthused by science and technology. The goal, by bringing in a diverse group is to provide opportunities to make distinct impacts: to inspire and motivate students who were not previously interested in STEM or did not see a future in it for themselves.
