Bruce Beresford has directed over 30 feature films during a career spanning fifty years.

Probably his best-known film is Driving Miss Daisy which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1989. He was nominated for an Academy award for the script of Breaker Morant (1979), and direction of Tender Mercies (1981). Black Robe (1992) won the Canadian Academy Award.

Other films include Crimes of the Heart, The Fringe Dwellers, Double Jeopardy, Paradise Road, Mao’s Last Dancer, and a 3-hour Bonnie and Clyde for TV.

His most recent films include Mr. Church (2015) with Eddie Murphy and part 4 of the TV series Roots (2015), the TV movie Flint (2017) with Queen Latifah and Betsy Brandt, and Ladies in Black, his acclaimed adaptation of Madeleine St John’s novel (2018/19).
