Event description

Description

Australia’s startup ecosystem is growing rapidly, delivering new and exciting opportunities for female founders to access support, training and investment. The trick is knowing what programs are right for your stage in startup development, to help you meet your goals for growth.

Join us as we take a deep dive into the emerging startup landscape, with three leading programs supporting female founders right along the pipeline from idea to exit.

Over breakfast you’ll hear from Nicola Hazell (Director SheStarts), Sue Hogan (Program Manager SBE Australia) and Fiona Boyd (CEO Heads over Heels), about the opportunities for female founders looking to start, grow, or scale their business.

Founders involved in each of the programs will also be there to answer your questions and share their experiences in building and growing a startup.

Whether you have an idea for a startup and are looking to get started, or you’re an established CEO looking to grow and expand your business; this is your chance to find out what opportunities are available to you!

Speakers

Nicola Hazell, Director SheStarts

Nicola Hazell is one of Australia's leading voices on gender equality and social innovation. After more than ten years working in media and public affairs in the community sector, politics and television news, in 2016 Nicola joined startup and innovation group BlueChilli, to lead the development of a new open innovation program turbocharging female leadership in the growing startup economy. In it's first year, the SheStarts program has invested $1 million supporting eleven female founders to get started, kicked off a world-class accelerator program and launched a documentary series to redefine what it means to be a tech entrepreneur. The program has received international recognition as a case study in best practice for inclusive entrepreneurship.

Sue Hogan, Program Manager SBE Australia

Sue brings over 25 years’ industry experience in marketing, events and innovation to SBE Australia. Prior to joining SBE, she spent six years as the General Manager of Innovation Bay, a key network for Australian-based technology entrepreneurs. There, she produced popular programs and sell-out events aimed to help tech startups succeed. Sue is a Program Manager, currently working on the E3 program that supports female founders—helping them build bigger, better and more sustainable businesses. She’s also a startup events producer with a variety of clients including AWS and Slingshot.

Fiona Boyd, CEO Heads Over Heels

Fiona has over 20 years’ experience as a C-Level executive across numerous industries and international markets. She is a passionate advocate for female leaders and entrepreneurs, and in addition to her senior executive roles, served as Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Council for an ASX listed company. Fiona also serves as a non-executive director and advisor to emerging enterprises, and provides mentoring support for Springboard, the UTS MBA in Entrepreneurship program, and for Stone & Chalk’s ‘Women in Fintech’ initiative.
