Event description

Description

Got more fruit than you can possibly eat?

Have you inherited some Fowlers Vacola jars or even a preserving kit and would like to know if they are still usable?

Come along and learn from Françoise, how you can preserve them sugar-free to use over the months to come.

In this workshop we will be showing you the basic information you will need to preserve mostly fruit in this tried and tested Australian preserving technique. Once preserved the jars do not need refrigeration - just a nice dark space - making them the perfect symbol of Plastic Free and Waste Free living.

Françoise Piron
Françoise has been preserving fruit, including tomatoes, and some vegetables for over 15 years and has been showing friends in her local community how to make the most of the Fowlers Vacola technique. Françoise accesses produce from her own garden, from the West Croydon Fruit and Veggie Swap and by scouring every opportunity that comes her way. She makes sure that she eats all the produce she preserves. “Never let a good fruit rot” is one of her mottos.

One lucky attendee will win a pack to get them started on their preserving journey!

Special feature for the night - Boomerang Bags. This grassroots, community driven organisation is
tackling plastic pollution at its source.
