A school holidays event to plant native understorey plants under old growth grey box gums to improve habitat quality for local birds

About this event

Help the Friends of Sturt Gorge plant back native understorey species under old growth grey box gums (Eucalyptus microcarpa) that have been cleared of olives, to improve the habitat quality for our local birds and the health of the trees.

Please wear sun/rain protection, sturdy shoes, a long-sleeved top and long pants. BYO gloves, trowels and hammers if you have them. Bring a few litres of water to help your new plants settle in. We will provide afternoon tea. Children must be accompanied by an adult carer.

Directions: From Coromandel Parade turn into Blackwood Park at the Grand Boulevard roundabout. Turn left at the next roundabout into Ferguson Avenue, and left again at the next roundabout into Blackwood Park Boulevard. Drive past the Meridien Sales Office for 200m and turn left opposite the playground. Drive slowly through pinch point and park before you reach the pumping station. This is a new subdivision so not all streets currently show up on devices. There will signs out on the day for directions and I will send through a map before the day.
