FREE Strengthening Connections (Psychological First Aid) Workshop - Online

This workshop is being offered FREE to participants, thanks to generous funding from the Perpetual IMPACT Philanthropy Fund. Tickets to Strengthening Connections usually retail for $229 per person.
WHY ARE WE OFFERING THIS TRAINING?
- Local Community members are equipped better-ready for the emotional and psychological aspects of community disasters, and to support others
- People are trained ready to be volunteer Community Recovery workers
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM IT?
- Community members, volunteers, Community Recovery workers, disaster response workers, emergency responders, other frontline responders
WHAT WILL I LEARN FROM THE TRAINING?
The session focuses on the support that is given to someone immediately following a disaster or critical event until more appropriate professional help is available, and/or until the person is less overwhelmed and more able to cope. Psychological First Aid seeks to:
- Reduce the initial distress
- Foster short and long-term adaptive functioning (build resilience)
- Minimise the risk of further harm
During this session, participants will learn to:
- Recognise signs of emotional/psychological distress
- Respond to the person’s immediate needs with care and support
- Refer confidently to appropriate services
COVID SAFE WORKSHOPS: At Lifeline Training, we are serious about the health and safety of our trainers and participants. Through employing the below procedures, we are committed to hosting our training in a COVID safe environment:
* Our staff and trainers are strictly directed to stay home if they are unwell/ to go home immediately if they become unwell whilst at work. It is an organisational procedure that staff is tested if they have COVID symptoms and must not return to work until cleared with a negative test.
*Ensuring there is space for 1.5m between our participants and trainers. All training components and exercises are structured to ensure that no contact training takes place. This also includes the registration and sign-in process on the day.
*Ensuring that our participant numbers are capped to allow for a minimum of 2 square metres per person in the room
*Hand sanitisers available on site
*Individual pens and workbooks for all participants
*No shared food offerings
If any of the below apply to you, you must NOT attend the workshop:
* If you are unwell or have any cold, flu, or COVID symptoms
*If you've returned from a hotspot within the last 14 days
*If you have had contact with a confirmed COVID case in the last 14 days
*If you have a confirmed case of COVID
