Event description

Description

Interpreters and translators play an important role in police and criminal justice procedures. Practitioners are constantly put into situations where personal morals, ethical codes and professional conducts clash. Decisions are expected to be made in a split second without access to consultation or professional guidance. This new book fills a gap in a scarcely published area in the T & I field, with an attempt to offer a tool for practitioners to add to their suite of professional capabilities.

Presenter:

Dr Miranda Lai is the co-author of this new book and heads the Translating and Interpreting programs at RMIT. Her research areas include police interpreting, T & I pedagogy, and ethics for T & I.

You can claim 10 PD points for:

- revalidation under Ethics of the Profession (Section 1.1); or

recertification under Ethics sub-category (Section 2.21).
