Event description

Description

Government House, also known as Fernberg, is Queensland's premier heritage home, and the working residence of the Queensland Governor.

Take a guided tour of the House, including the stately Dining Room, Drawing Room, Investiture Room and Small Sitting Room, and view the extensive art collection on display, including artworks on loan from the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and the Royal Collection Trust.

From the original villa built for German-born merchant Johann Heussler in 1865, to today’s contemporary Government House, the story of Fernberg is inextricably linked to the history and people of the state.

Tour duration is approximately 40 minutes. Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the tour via 168 Fernberg Road, Paddington. Limited parking on-site. Adults are required to produce photographic ID.

The tour route includes approximately 50 stairs. If you have mobility issues, please phone 07 3858 5750 prior to booking.

Limited photography is permitted upon staff direction. No backpacks/large handbags are to be taken into the House.
