Pretesting is a vital element in the IELTS test development process.
Pretesting helps to ensure:
• our exams are accurate and fair, with each individual item pitched at the right level
• test content is appropriate and that people from all backgrounds can do equally well.
Pretesting gives candidates the opportunity to practice the IELTS test using real ESOL test questions in “real-time” tests conditions.
The test components included in pretesting are Listening, Reading and Writing. We do not currently pretest the Speaking component. Writing papers are marked by genuine IELTS Examiners and candidates will receive feedback on their performance.
Results will be expected to be available 6 weeks after the pretest date.
How will it benefit you?
- Helps you determine which areas you need most practice in.
- Provides you experience and confidence in taking the tests.
