Event description

Description

Baker Hughes, a GE company, is a leader in reservoir geomechanics helping Oil and Gas and Geothermal companies drill, complete and stimulate safely. We apply geomechanical knowledge during the entire field development process to drill deeper, further, faster and to produce more, for longer, and more cheaply. We have conducted several thousand studies globally over the last 20 years including more than 30 different geomechanics projects in New Zealand.

We have delivered several free Geomechanics Technology Days throughout Asia over the last 2 years. We invite Drilling Engineers, Production, Petroleum and Completion Engineers, Wellsite Supervisors, Geoscientists, Petrophysicists and Asset Managers working in the Oil and Gas or Geothermal businesses in New Zealand to join us for another Geomechanics Technology afternoon at the Quality Hotel in New Plymouth on Thursday 24 August.

The talks below have been selected to address some of the critical business challenges we have seen by completing more than 1500 studies in Asia Pacific Region over the last 20 years.

These challenges include the following:

  • Improve Safety and reduce costs - support capital intensive decisions with mitigation plans.

  • Improve operations - combine long-term understanding of the overburden and reservoir with real-time decision making (from a drilling, completions and stimulation perspective).

  • Transfer knowledge - share best practise, introduce new technology, learn and improve.

Presentation Topics

  • Real-time geomechanics and drilling optimisation – drill further, faster, with less NPT

  • Integrating Geomechanics with Operational Practices to improve performance for ERD and Deepwater wells

  • Fracture permeability enhancement: Geomechanical Model Coupled to DFN

  • Production enhancement optimising faults and fractures

  • Integrated Sand Production Prediction and Management for Optimum Sandface Completion and Productivity

  • Hydraulic fracturing - What We Often Do Wrong and What We Could Do Better

  • Integrating 3D geomechanics for horizontal well planning and stimulation

  • 4D geomechanical workflows and software for Reducing Downtime while Improving Recovery.

Agenda:

  • 12:30-13:00 Doors Open. Tea and coffee.

  • 13:00-16:30 Selected talks

  • 16:30-16:45 Wrap up & prize awards

  • 16:45-18:00 Drinks
