FREE FIREWOOD

Council has free firewood available to community members as part of our storm recovery clean-up. Please ensure you read the important information as below

Important safety information:

- Please arrive on time and follow the safety directions of the transfer station staff.

- Please remain in your vehicle while our team loads your trailer/utility.

- You are required to check in using the QR code on-site.

- Please wear a mask and follow Covid-19 safe practices.

- Our team reserves the right to refuse to fill unsafe trailers/utility vehicles. Please note that some utes without adequate rear window protection cannot be loaded.

- Please bring along your identification to prove you are a resident or ratepayer in Hepburn Shire (driver license or rate notice).

- You are responsible for your vehicle and trailer while on-site and when you leave the transfer station.

- Council will follow safe procedures for loading the firewood (but will not engage in manual handling).

- Loading of firewood is at your risk. Council is not liable for damages to property during the operation.

- Bad behaviour and abuse toward staff will not be tolerated. Our team reserves the right to ask you to leave at any time.

- Residents and ratepayers can collect up to two cubic metres (2m3) of firewood for free from our transfer stations.

- Your booking is for one trailer/utility load of wood only. If you cannot transport 2m3 in your trailer/utility, you will need to book a follow up timeslot.

- Firewood is only available to ticketed residents and ratepayers at their allotted time under the supervision of council staff.

- No waste can be accepted by transfer station staff on firewood collection days

- The firewood is green, it will need to season (dry out) for at least 12 months.

- Please note that some blocks are larger (30-35cm across) and will require further splitting.

- Hepburn Shire Council reserves the right to cancel or amend the trial at their discretion.
