Oddball - Family film and afternoon tea to celebrate 40 years of the Dungog Shire Community Centre

About this event

The Dungog Shire Community Centre (DINS) is turning 40 this month and we want to celebrate with the wonderful community that has supported us for all that time.

Starting off at 2:00pm with a free showing of the funny, quirky Australian family film Oddball and continuing into an afternoon tea for all at the James Theatre, Brown Street Dungog.

We welcome past and current clients, volunteers, staff, committee members and anyone else who wants to celebrate this milestone anniversary with us.

Come along to enjoy the film, snacks and companionship. If you do not wish to attend the film the afternoon tea will commence at about 3:45pm.

Oddball is a heartwarming Australian underdog tale of a chicken farmer who, with the help of his granddaughter, trains his mischievous dog Oddball to protect a penguin sanctuary. The story is inspired by a real maremma dog that saved a penguin colony on Middle Island, 150m offshore from Warrnambool, Victoria. Foxes had brought the penguin population down to 10 birds in 2005 when a local free-range chicken farmer suggested using a maremma to protect them.
