Overview

Understand how culture influences care needs for people living with dementia

Cultural awareness is essential in dementia care, not only for compliance but for strengthening communication, trust, and truly person-centred support. This training explores how culture influences the experience and expression of dementia, shaping behaviours, expectations, and care needs. Participants will examine the impact of language barriers, migration histories, and stigma on diagnosis, engagement, and daily living. The session also introduces practical strategies to enhance culturally responsive care and provides resources to support workers in delivering respectful, effective assistance to people with dementia from diverse backgrounds. This training aims to build confidence, understanding, and inclusive practice.
