Description

What health impacts would Central Queenslanders be exposed to from Adani’s Carmichael coal mine? What hasn’t our community been told? How can we champion a clean and healthy future for all Australians?

We’ll discuss these questions and many more at the Health on the Frontlines forum at the Bowen Garden Club on Thursday 14th December. We’ll be joined by health professionals from across the country who are travelling through Central Queensland to discuss the health impacts of Australia's largest ever proposed coal mine.

Air pollution from mining, burning and transporting coal causes health problems including asthma, heart disease and lung disease. Climate change - from burning coal and other fossil fuels - has been called the 'biggest public health threat of the 21st century' by leading medical authorities.

Following a presentation from Associate Professor Linda Selvey from the University of Queensland there will be an open community discussion about how to champion a healthy and bright future for Central Queensland.

Spaces limited, RSVP essential.

This is a free event, light refreshments will be served.
