Description

UCAT, like the UMAT, is an aptitude test that tests the abilities of a candidate to perform specific tasks. In the case of the UCAT, the skills of interest come in the form of evidence-based decision making and the application of medical ethics in the context of professionalism. UCAT contains 5 sections dedicated to assessing these abilities in 14 major ways, I.e. 14 major question types. Therefore, it is essential for students to find ways to learn and master the techniques used to answer each of these question types to ensure success on the big day.

In this 3-hr workshop, we will be:

  1. Top 5 challenges when preparing and sitting the UCAT exam
  2. Outlining the optimal methods to prepare for the UCAT (minimum time, maximum return)
  3. Short mock test followed by live step-by-step dissection of most commonly asked section 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 questions
  4. Revealing each of the 14 different question types as well as discussing their unique differences and insights on how to solve each question
  5. Term 1 timeline for weekly preparation goals, time allocation and study milestones to help you keep on track

iCanMed is all about making sure that all students receive the best advice, recommendations and strategies for UCAT preparation. Having anticipated the switch from UMAT to UCAT, iCanMed has spent years dissecting and understanding exactly how to answer every UCAT question type. With over 800 past students currently studying medicine across medical schools in NZ and Australia, a team of assessment writers, educators and former medical school selectors, learning about the UCAT and gaining acceptance has never been this straightforward.
